Claudia Ramirez Development of a Metallophyte database (semester 1 & 2)
Julie Schumacher Noise modelling (semester 2)

This position involves looking after a diverse range of activities which makes it so interesting.  I am mainly responsible for the following tasks but there are heaps of other things (apart from wrestling with crocodiles) that I look after as well.

  • Development and administration of the postgraduate programs offered by CMLR
At present we have 10+ courses that complement our Certificate, Graduate Diploma and Master of Mineral Resources (Environment) Programs. For more info on this please visit our education link

  • Design and implementation of research and teaching software applications
The Phoenix Rehabilitation software is my baby, but I have also project managed the design and development of the VR Mine CD (a student resource), and the SMI Postgraduate Portal (SMIPP) - the new SMI education website that presents the offerings of all SMI centre's educational programs in a united format

  • Webmaster of the CMLR website
The web-pages you are looking at have also been put together by me - in my "spare time"

  • Student supervision
There are a few students I supervise in subjects related to the application of information technology in general, and database design, implementation and artificial intelligence algorithm in particular to our discipline

For my publications and research interests please visit my private website. Ah, I also won the competition to name the cafe in our building downstairs ... very creative hey?     :|
